DANCE

parent-testimonials-about-chennai-schools

We approach dance from a concept-based perspective. Rather than focus on traditional techniques, we teach traditional dance through the elements of Space, Time, Body, Effort, Movement, and Form. Through this conceptual approach, students learn modern technique, improvisation, choreography, community, somatic awareness, and musical awareness. As other techniques and styles are introduced through special programs, we explore how they support the above areas of emphasis.

At Holyqueen, we believe the studio is an environment where healthy risk taking, in all forms, is encouraged. Students develop skills in performing and perceiving through participation dancing, as well as watching, and supporting others in their class. This class environment values a commitment to self, to the group, and to lifelong exploration and learning. Dance technique is taught through concepts.

KARATE

Children who attend Kids Karate are destined to succeed in life because we teach them about goals, self-esteem, discipline and persistence at an early age. The traits children learn in our unique program will pay off for the rest of their lives!

Classes will make children safer, but we focus on much, more than just self-defense. Each level is progressively more challenging than the last. The idea is to have a long-term goal (Black Belt) that is achieved by attaining short-term goals (the different color belts along the way).

YOGA

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. The ultimate goal of Yoga is moksha (liberation), although the exact definition of what form this takes depends on the philosophical or theological system with which it is conjugated. Yoga is a meditative means of discovering dysfunctional perception and cognition, as well as overcoming it for release from suffering, inner peace and salvation.

The act of practicing poses encourages children to clear their mind and focus on the effort. As a result of this single focus to achieve a particular pose or stay balanced, yoga helps children to focus and concentrate in school and get better grades, several studies note.

Art and Craft

Arts and crafts are great for learners of all ages. From preschool paper plate tambourines to fifth grade homemade thermometers, the holy queen arts and crafts activities will keep students’ learning fun and engaged. Young children love crafting and many projects can be used to illustrate classroom lessons.
